Home Again Home Again Bloggity Blog

I've been home for 31 hours, eaten comfort food (Robin's home-made tapioca), healthy food (oh so yummy cabbage slaw with cilantro & vineagar). I've received a reiki treatment (hands-on healing) from Blair. The ritual of stripping and emptying the drain has become familiar. Naps have been blissfully plentiful. Following Dr. Buchanan's prescription, several walks a day have been injested. So far, pain has been well contained & there seems to be no bruising, which I attribute to Arnica, sublingual and in an external salve.

Your generosity of spirit and in practice is humbling, tender, inspiring, and above all comforting. I'm cohabitating with you when I open the freezer & see the food, when I smell the flowers, when I converse with you via cards and blogs, and other electronica. What a caring community. Thank you. Words are stupid and fumbling beside the deep flow of gratitude that flushes through my heart & my eyes. Through the last days, my only tears have been of thankfulness and joy.

Now, it's time to reduce the inventory of brocoli in miso-tempeh sauce, and begin the invalid's ritual of tv. I've signed up for netflix & will finally find out what WestWing is like.

  1. Dearest Beth,
What a wonderful, encouraging post. Thankfulness and joy, indeed. When that freezer starts to empty I plan to refill it.
    Great love,
    Pam

  2. Beth - I highly recommend SLINGS & ARROWS on Netflix if available. It's about a dysfunctional Canadian Shakespearean festival, three seasons worth. Even more addictive than west wing but finite with the three seasons! I'm not sure how much to "bother" you today as I'm "on call" but will check in and probably drop some food by mid-late afternoon unless you tell me otherwise! SOOOO glad you are doing so well. Love, Cyn

  4. Dear Little Sister,

Praise Buddallah that you are doing so well. I was chatting with a group of women friends about you and commented how couragous you have been -- I mean if I was having a booby cut off I think I would be a mess. Your strength and humor is a gift to all of us watching from the outside.

I chared Robin's email update from Saturday with my email list and I've received back so many emails from friends reminding me that you are in their thoughts and prayers (for those who do that). They are thrilled to hear you are doing so well. And of course I am directing them to your blog as well.

    Hugzez & Kisses!

  6. Beth - so delighted to hear that all progresses in a positive direction, and you are in my prayers and meditations as well. Wish I were there to cook for you! enjoy Netflix; we too are addicted but (being SciFi nerds) are smack in the middle of the re-make of BattleStar Galactica.....

    love

  7. Having not heard from you in several hours, I was of course concerned and so dedicated another yoga practice to your continued recovery. I hope you're just enjoying this most beautiful of Junes, even if through a haze of percoset, which makes tv watching all the more (or at least somewhat) entertaining. I remember last time I was really sick, I was finally feeling well enough to lay on the couch and watch a half hour of tv. The Bill Cosby show made me laugh so hard. But I could tell I was greatly recovered when 2 days later the show was no longer making me laugh. May you have a similar experience soon and thus be ready for something more engaging (like Slings & Arrows?).

We're in your neighborhood Saturday night for a concert so if you want any of my homemade/grown squash soup, just poke me!
    love,
    Karin

PS I've also hear many wonderful things about Slings & Arrows!
